The Young British Pianist Christina McMaster has a passion for performance which has resulted in numerous successes and prizes including at Jaque Samuels Intercollegiate, Hastings International Concerto, Il Circolo and The Cavatina Chamber Music competitions.

She was awarded a place at the specialist music school ‘The Purcell School’. Here she was surrounded by world class teachers and musicians who inspired her to dedicate her life to music and pursue a career as a pianist.   She continued her musical development at Trinity College of Music where she was awarded several prizes for excellence in performance and had the incredible privilege of studying with great pianist/composer Douglas Finch, followed by further performance studies with Joanna MacGregor at The Royal Academy of Music.

Christina loves to collaborate and share musical experiences.  She has had the opportunity to work with a number of wonderful musicians including with the Brodowski Quartet, The Toki Quartet,The Academy Manson Ensemble,  Soloists from the Orchestra of the age of Enlightenment for a new opera and as a member of the prize winning ‘Maestoso Trio’.

Her fortunate meeting with amazing pianist and personality Bernard Flavigny ignited her interest in French music of the 20th Century.  Bernard’s connections with great composers and musicians of the past such as Debussy, Messian, Cortot and Gieseking have given Christina a unique insight to the true performance intentions of the French Masters. Christina now regularly visits Bernard for unique musical experiences, staying in rural Normandy whilst absorbing Bernard’s knowledge about music and about life.

Christina has a wide repertoire and enjoys presenting diverse programmes, giving premiers of new works as well as exploring a range of contemporary styles including Ligeti, Wolfgang Rihm, John Cage, Douglas Finch, Nicholas Maw and Alistair Nicholson.

Christina has performed in masterclasses with many distinguished musicians including Dmitri Alexeev, Renna Kellaway, Melyvn Tan and Peter Donohoe.

Recent performances include at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Drapers Hall, The Reform Club, Chipping Campden Festival, St-Martin-in-The-Fields and ‘The French Music Festival’.
